Sedation Dentistry

  • Sedation Dentistry

If you have avoided dental check-ups due to anxiety and fear, you are not alone. Sedation dentistry allows patients to experience comfortable, stress-free dental care.

Candidates for Sedation Dentistry

If you have neglected your dental health because of apprehension about treatment, Dr. Streelman offers oral sedation, also known as “sleep dentistry”, and IV sedation. Candidates for oral sedation include adults who have:

  • High fear
  • Previous traumatic dental experiences
  • Difficulty getting numb from anesthetic
  • Sensitive gag reflex
  • Limited time to complete dental care
  • Complex dental problems
  • Fear of needles and shots
  • Aversion to the noises, smells, and tastes associated with dental care
  • Embarrassment about their teeth

If you suffer from any of these, Dr. Streelman can help. As a skilled, trusted dentist, he understands patients’ apprehension towards dentistry and uses a gentle touch for all dental treatments provided at his Oceanside office. You may opt for oral sedation if you have experienced any of the above problems and are in need of dental treatment.

How Sedation Dentistry Works

Prior to your appointment, you will swallow a small pill provided by our office. A friend or family member will drive you to your appointment as the oral sedation sets in. By the time you arrive, you will be drowsy and comfortable. You will continue to relax in your treatment room with a warm blanket. Your vital signs will be monitored and our highly trained and experienced clinical team will take care of your dental needs. When treatment is complete, you will awaken with little or no memory of the visit, but will go home with a beautiful smile.

Visit Dr. Steven Streelman at his state-of-the-art facility in Oceanside, CA to discuss whether or not sedation (sleep) dentistry is the right option for you. To learn more about sedation dentistry, call us at (760) 439-0600 or click here to request an appointment online.
